Testing Your Backups

Periodically testing your backups is an essential part of any backup or disaster recovery plan.  It is not enough just to run backups.  You have to test those backups by actually restoring data from them in order to be confident that they will work if they are eventually needed.   

Designing a test procedure for your backup environment is not simple but it will give you an increased level of confidence that, should the worst happen, you will be able to recover.
